Wonders shall never cease! Apparently there are rumors going round (twitter) that Nairobians are being fed Marabou Stork birds instead of chicken in hotels at the CBD. Welcome to my world. These rumors started going round after a social media user; Jarunda Jaluth Mambobiad tweeted and posted a photo of a boda boda operator tying up a marabou stork bird on his motorcycle. Jarunda claimed that the operator was supplying the bird to one of the hotels in town. How true this is, I can’t tell.

The ugly birds are commonly seen on trees especially around Nyayo stadium as well as Dandora dumping site in Nairobi.

Jarunda’s tweet and shared photo stirred many reactions of the Kenyans On Twitter some claiming that indeed there are some hotels that serve suspicious looking meat, others countered Jarunda by saying that the Marabou Stork birds are poisonous thus impossible to replace it with chicken while others simply said that they did not mind as long as the meat was cooked well, that I had to laugh! This is just how much our world is becoming an untrustworthy place. Some time back it was donkey meat being fed to Nairobians, now it is an ‘upgraded chicken’! Recently there were warnings of poisonous fruits and vegetables circulating all over, I wonder what is next. Probably it will be something delicious but harmful to our bodies. No wonder it’s really hard to see an 80 year old elder these days. Our bodies are full of toxins!

To our foreigners/tourists, do not be afraid to visit our beautiful country for this nonsense. We promise to serve you mouth watering cuisines that are not toxic. No pun intended.
