Owen Mwatia is a Kenyan contemporary Christian music artist.The 34 years old Kakamega born artist is also a songwriter. He is the brother to award winning artist Ruffton. He is also known as King of Kapungala; Papa Fololo. Some of his great hits are: Tobina, Saluti, Kazi ya Msalaba, System ya Kapungala and Jumapili.

10. Before he became a born again Christian, he was a pick pocket in Downtown Nairobi. He was almost being lynched by angry mob,by Gods grace he escaped the incident but was left with a scar on the face.

9. He is the founder of Malaika Awards. Malaika Awards seeks to honor artists with disabilities.

8. He is married. He recently wed his long time girlfriend Fridah Wambui at Kenya Assemblies of God in Buruburu.

7.He is an alumnus of Eshihiru Secondary School. He was not lucky to join a tertiary institution due to financial constrains.

6. He is the second born in a family of four brothers and a sister. All his brothers are musicians. Ruffton, his eldest brother is an established musician. Ruffton has been Daddy’s inspiration.

5. He has won different awards in the music industry. Groove Award’s Male Artist of the year 2009-2011, MTV best Anglophone Award in 2010 and 2012 Kisima Award’s Artist of The Year.

4. His mentor in music industry was the late gospel artist Kaberere. Kaberere passed away on 6th April 2014. Kaberere and Ruffton have been the center of Owen’s inspiration in the industry.

3.In 2012, he was named the brand ambassador for Airtel Kenya. The partnership saw him promote the brand by endorsing the brand service and products.

2. He is the founder of Macho Macho campaign. The campaign aimed at providing medical attention to needy people with eye problems in Kakamega.

1. He is currently a praise and worship team member at Kenya Assemblies of God in Buruburu.
