Irene Akello, a mother of one from Busia was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband Charles Omwoyo.

Irene died on 18th May at Mbagathi Hospital, where she had been rushed with a cut on her small intestines according to the postmortem report..

According to Irene’s close friends, she was determined to make up her messy marriage with her husband Charles.

Irene left her home where she was living with her parents in Busia in search of work in Nairobi.

She briefly stayed with her friends as she looked for work, only to end up with the key suspect together again.

“She had been living home for a year with her daughter after her husband beat her up. We have never met the husband’s family and so when she accused him of violence we just told her to stay home,” Her brother Lawrence Opondo said.

The matter is now with the Kenyatta National Police Station.

“We did not know she had reconnected with her husband, it was her friend who told us how on arrival she told her she was determined to make her marriage work… the man and his family has been avoiding us,” Opondo told local paper Nairobi News.
