Kenya’s beloved social media content creator Koku Lwanga and her husband of seven years, celebrated actor Martin Githinji—known popularly as Daddie Marto—have officially ended their marriage. The news has left fans shocked and heartbroken, as the couple was once among the country’s most admired celebrity pairs.

On June 16, Koku opened up publicly about the split, alleging that Marto emotionally withdrew long before their separation and accused him of infidelity with a woman living in the same compound. She further revealed that despite her efforts to salvage their marriage, Marto frequently found fault with everything she did, showing little to no acknowledgment or honesty about wanting to move on.

This revelation sparked waves of reaction across social media, with many fans expressing sadness and anger, mourning the downfall of a once-strong union.

Interestingly, as this story dominates headlines, netizens have dug up a throwback interview from December 2023 where Koku shared profound insights about love, marriage, and separation that now seem eerily prophetic.

In that interview, Koku reflected:
“The only school which you graduate from before you start is marriage. People get married and they are in love and happy, then life just happens. When you see people separating down the line, don’t judge them or think that you know or are better than them. Sometimes things just happen. Two people come together and try to build a life together and sometimes it does not work out.”

She also revealed that none of their three children were planned, adding a personal layer to the complexities they faced.

Her candid reflections have led many to link her previous statements to the heartbreak she is now experiencing. Koku recounted how, in her attempts to hold their family together, Marto accused her of wanting the marriage ‘too much,’ a charge that stung deeply given her dedication.

On the other side, Daddie Marto has, in earlier interviews, admitted to facing temptations but claimed he chose to resist them for the sake of his family and reputation. He also confessed that while he was open about his love life in some respects, there were secrets he kept from Koku.

The unraveling of their marriage serves as a stark reminder of how even the most admired couples can face hidden struggles behind the scenes.

Fans and observers have flooded social platforms with mixed emotions — from support for Koku to reflections on the challenges many face in marriage. Some comments underscore the harsh realities of infidelity and emotional disconnect, with users offering advice, sympathy, or candid takes on relationship dynamics.

This split highlights that marriage, while often celebrated as a fairy tale, involves real challenges that sometimes lead to difficult endings. Koku Lwanga’s story is a powerful example of the complex layers of love, pain, and resilience that many navigate quietly.

As Koku and Marto part ways, the public watches closely, hoping both find peace and healing after a marriage that captivated Kenya for years.
