An ambulance belonging to Kenya Red Cross Society was involved in a head on collision with an oncoming lorry leaving three occupants of the ambulance fighting for their lives.
The accident occurred when the rescue vehicle was destined to Njambini, Kinangop to help with the search of the missing Fly Sax plane in the Aberdares.
Of the 11 victims who were taken to JM Memorial hospital in Ol Kalou, three were referred to Nakuru General Hospital due to their critical condition.
Among the three, one suffered spinal cord injuries, another leg fracture while the thirdd sustained serios head injuries, the Medical Superintendent Samuel Mwaura noted.
The accident which happened at Kariamu market, about five kilometers from Ol Kalou town on the Ol Kalou – Njambini highway, was confirmed by Nyandarua County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich.
The crash victims were from Kenya Red Cross staff belonging to Nakuru and Nyandarua counties.
