BBC Africa were heckled online by concerned Kenyans after they were angered by a Tweet which looked like ‘disrespecting’ Kenyan leaders particularly former Presidents.

Kenya money coins replace leaders with animals

The tweet came in just after President Uhuru Kenyatta and CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge unveiled new currency which beared animals as opposed to the previous that had portraits of former Presidents

Replace leaders with animals … whoever is doing your social media must be hating Kenyan leaders…

A classical case of the western world's choice of words when reporting about Africa. A perfect example on why Africa should not be hoodwinked to think that others can tell the African story better than the Africans themselves. #ShiftYourFocus
