Renowned Kenyan singer Bien Baraza, currently on a sold-out U.S. tour, recently made waves after appearing on the iconic Breakfast Club radio show. The popular singer, known for his captivating voice and powerful lyrics, sat down for a candid interview that gave fans a rare glimpse into his personal life—particularly his marriage and finances.

Bien discussed his unique professional and personal relationship with his wife, Chiki Kuruka, who also doubles as his manager. The revelation that she manages his career without being formally paid sparked a wave of admiration and curiosity online. “We have been together 11 years, and she has managed me for the last two years. During that entire period, we were just husband and wife,” Bien said during the interview. He went on to explain that it was his idea to have Chiki manage him, a decision he considers one of the best of his life.

When host Charlamagne tha God asked whether he pays Chiki for her services, Bien responded with a cheeky, “In other ways,” before delving deeper into their financial arrangement. “I don’t know how you guys run your households; I think America is a different country. But in my household, the money belongs to the family. She has access to all my money, and I have access to hers. We work to build a future for us and our children,” he explained.

His honesty struck a chord with fans across the globe, many of whom praised the couple for their transparency and the deep trust at the foundation of their relationship. The moment was seen not only as a celebration of love but also a rare depiction of partnership done right in the world of fame and fortune.

Since launching his solo career, Bien has delivered hit after hit, with his latest release Safari featuring Somali star Suldaan Seeraar amassing over 2.7 million views on YouTube within a month. His appearance on The Breakfast Club was widely celebrated as a milestone moment for Kenyan music, with fans thrilled to see one of their own making a mark on the global stage.

In the same interview, Bien also reflected on his 2020 wedding to Chiki, which was a deliberately intimate affair. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony with only 50 guests, minimal expenses, and no phones allowed. They opted for a courthouse wedding followed by a five-course lunch with an open bar. Invitations were sent out just two days before the ceremony to maintain the couple’s desired level of privacy. The event cost around KSh 300,000—a modest figure for a celebrity wedding, underscoring their commitment to substance over showmanship.

Bien’s approach to love, partnership, and career management has sparked widespread conversations about modern relationships, especially in the entertainment industry. His transparency is refreshing, and his continued success on international stages is further cementing his place as one of Kenya’s most influential cultural exports.
