The love life of Jesus Christ Compassion Ministries’ Bishop Muthee Kiengei is once again in the spotlight after an old interview with his ex-wife, Keziah wa Kariuki, resurfaced online. The clip has renewed public interest in the circumstances surrounding their separation and the emotional toll it took on Keziah.
Keziah and Kiengei separated about six years ago after he married Reverend Joyceline Benson while still in their marriage. The decision shocked many of their followers and sparked speculation about the events leading to their split.
In the interview with Kenya Diaspora Media USA, Keziah revealed that divorce was never something she desired. She explained that she felt forced into the decision due to the situation she found herself in.
“The divorce was not something that I wanted, and in my heart, I knew that was not something that I wanted. It was the circumstance that I found myself in, and it forced me to do it. There was really nothing else I could do because my husband had married another woman while I was still with him, so what do you expect? I had to protect myself,” Keziah said.
She went on to share that the period was one of the most difficult in her life, leaving deep emotional scars. Despite her personal struggles, she had to maintain a brave face, particularly in her work as a media personality.
“At times, I could just burst out crying. Like for my Sunday morning show, it used to be about worship, and so people, even those who were divorced, would expect that I encourage them and give them hope, all while I did not even know what my heart wanted because my heart was broken. That used to pain me a lot, but I prayed to God to give me strength,” she recalled.
Following the divorce, Kiengei married Reverend Joy, with whom he is still happily married. Keziah later remarried, but in late 2024, rumours emerged suggesting she may have separated from her second husband. Neither she nor her partner has publicly addressed those claims.
Interestingly, despite their history, Kiengei, Keziah, and Reverend Joy have maintained a cordial relationship. They have been spotted together at events and have occasionally exchanged public birthday wishes, indicating that there is no hostility between them.
Currently, Keziah resides primarily in the United States, managing a successful beauty parlour. She makes occasional trips to Kenya for both business and personal engagements.
The resurfaced interview has reignited conversations about marriage, divorce, and the challenges public figures face when navigating personal struggles under the public eye. Keziah’s story continues to resonate with many who have faced similar situations, offering a rare glimpse into the emotional cost of high-profile relationship breakups.
