Just weeks after clinching victory at the 2025 Boston Marathon, Kenyan long-distance star John Korir is celebrating in grand style. The 28-year-old athlete has rewarded himself with a luxurious Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, a fitting symbol of his hard-earned success on the global stage.
Korir delivered a dominant performance on April 21, 2025, during one of the world’s most prestigious races. The Boston Marathon win saw him outpace an elite field, including defending champion Sisay Lemma and two-time winner Evans Chebet. Having previously conquered the 2024 Chicago Marathon, Korir entered Boston with high expectations and didn’t disappoint. He took control of the race early, maintaining a strong lead and finishing without pressure from his closest rivals, further cementing his status among the world’s top marathoners.
Barely a month after the win, Korir walked into Car Soko dealership in Nairobi, where he was greeted with fanfare as he picked up his brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The 2008 model SUV, boasting a 2800cc diesel engine and a market value of approximately KSh 5 million, was presented with a red ribbon draped across the bonnet and windscreen to celebrate the occasion.
In a video shared by the dealership, Car Soko’s sales executive Patrick Riang’a welcomed the marathoner and congratulated him on his remarkable feat. Korir, visibly thrilled, described the Boston race casually and with a smile, saying, “It was okay, I looked back and saw nobody close to me.” Patrick jokingly called the new purchase “a mzinga,” to which Korir replied, “I have bought a mzinga here, and thank you to Car Soko and Patrick for selling me this good car. My message to athletes out there—visit Car Soko, there are clean goods. You will love them.”
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Patrick expressed how honoured he was to serve one of Kenya’s brightest stars. “I’m so proud to have done business with the Boston Marathon champion. I am happy for him. Let him enjoy his hard work,” he shared.
