Demonstrators blocked the main road in Eastleigh on Friday morning to protest at the poor state of roads in the area.
The protesters, mainly matatu operators and boda boda riders, blocked the busy 1st Avenue with bonfires and stones.
Morning commuters had to walk to Jogoo Road and Juja Road to get a means of transport.
The protesters complained that the area Member of Parliament and Members of County Assembly had only focused in developing roads in other areas.
Evans Ogana, the chairman of route 4 Sacco, told Nairobi News, that they don’t even know who the area MCA is.
“We have never seen him and we don’t know him. Other roads are well maintained but section 3 along 18th street is in a terrible condition,” Ogana added.
The protest caused a heavy traffic jam on Jogoo road and parts of Eastleigh in the morning rush hour.
