It was a moment of rarity as Kisumu kids on school holiday were treated with pop corns and their favorite drink as they enjoyed for the first time screening of Black Panther.
The disadvantaged but enthusiast kids came from most of Kisumu city estates such as Obunga,Manyatta,Kibos,Nyalenda, and Dunga.
Cultural Affairs Officer Megan Larson-Kone from US Embassy spoke to the little kids with words of inspiration and encouragement before the 3D screening started off at Mega City cinema hall.
The class act from US Embassy has won many hearts of social media users, who went online to show the support of such culture promoting events.
The first premier of Black Panther in Kenya was held in Kisumu before it went on to be shown across the country.
Kisumu city enjoys and brags about being the home of one of the top stars in Black Panther, Lupita Nyong’o who played as Nakia in a movie which glorifies the excellence of black people from an imaginary Wakanda Kingdom.
No where else in Kenya has the high grossing movie received much support than in Kisumu.
The movie which was directed by Ryan Coogler was first released on 29,January 2018. The movie has won fans affection and financial scores in equal measure than any other box office movie released within its timeline
The event was organised under the auspices of Kayz Omollo, a digital media consultant
