Comedian Oga Obinna has subtly expressed regret over discussing socialite Amber Ray publicly after his remarks about her led to an online spat. The digital creator has since vowed to tread carefully, avoiding personal questions in future interviews to prevent similar controversies.

The drama began during Obinna’s successful and packed My Mistakes comedy event, where his comments about Amber went viral, upsetting the socialite. During a press briefing at the event, Obinna discussed the distance that had developed between him and Amber, revealing that they were no longer as close as they had once been. In explaining their strained relationship, he mentioned an incident from the shoot of his music video Kado, claiming that Amber was the main love interest in the video and that they had “negotiated” a payment for her participation.

Amber swiftly responded, dismissing Obinna’s claims. She asserted that she was never paid for appearing in the video, having agreed to participate without any compensation. She further alleged that after the shoot, Obinna promised to send her KSh 40,000 for fuel, a promise he failed to fulfill. The situation escalated when Amber shared private chats with Obinna, accusing him of disrespect and attempting to set her up with a wealthy man. Amber described the interaction as deeply disrespectful and admitted fault for not setting clearer boundaries.

Following the public fallout, Obinna announced that he would be more cautious moving forward. Speaking to content creators, he stated that he would avoid answering questions about other people during interviews. “Don’t ask anything about wife. You see, it brought issues. By the way, who asked that question? It is you,” he remarked, pointing towards a content creator. “You see the case you put me into. So from today, if I do any interview, when asked any question that isn’t about me, I won’t answer. I have been told to shut up.”

Obinna also addressed the leaked chats, admitting that he had sent the messages to Amber back in 2022. He explained that he is now a better version of himself and claimed that Amber had selectively shared parts of their conversation to push a particular narrative. He added that while he has his own ‘receipts,’ he chose not to share them out of respect for Amber’s current partner, Kennedy Rapudo.

The incident has sparked varied reactions online. Some netizens commended Obinna for learning from the experience, while others doubted whether he would genuinely refrain from addressing similar matters in the future. Regardless, the controversy serves as a stark reminder for public figures to exercise caution when discussing personal relationships in the public domain.
