Commission for University Education Warns Public Against Illegal Institutions Offering Degree Programmes

The Commission for University Education (CUE) has warned the public against illegal institutions offering degree programmes without the necessary authorization.

In a statement, the CUE said that it has established that a number of institutions are offering degree and postgraduate diploma programmes without the required Grant of Authority to operate.

The institutions listed by the CUE include:

  1. Eldoret Bible College
  2. Al-Munawarrah College
  3. Grace Life Bible College
  4. Africa Theological Seminary
  5. Regions beyond Ministry Bible College
  6. Baraton College
  7. The Africa Talent University
  8. Breakthrough Bible College
  9. Theophillus Theological College
  10. Northwestern Christian University
  11. Logos University
  12. Harvest Land University/Kisumu
  13. Word of Faith Bible College

The CUE said that any institution purporting to offer university education in Kenya and does not appear in the list is an illegal entity and is not authorized to operate.

The public is being requested to report any suspicious institutions to the CUE.

The CUE also warned the public against seeking recognition of degree qualifications offered by foreign universities from illegal institutions.

The CUE said that the only legitimate body that can grant recognition to foreign degree qualifications is the CUE itself.

The public can access information on accredited academic programmes offered in accredited universities on the CUE website.

The CUE said that it is committed to ensuring that the quality of education in Kenya is maintained.

The public is urged to cooperate with the CUE in its efforts to crack down on illegal institutions offering degree programmes.
