Dele Alli could be banned for the rest of Tottenham’s title run-in.
He appeared to punch Claudio Yacob in the stomach as Spurs’ Prem hopes suffered a crushing blow.
Just 24 hours after being crowned the new PFA Young Player of the Year, Alli appeared to lash out at Albion’s Argie anchorman in an off-the-ball first-half incident.
Alli, 20, escaped punishment at the time because referee Mike Jones did not see it.
But the England ace is facing retrospective action from the FA after his apparently wild swing was spotted by American broadcaster NBC, who posted a vine of the incident on its Twitter site.
The FA could now hit Alli with a violent conduct charge, which carries an automatic three-game ban.
That would rule him out of Tottenham’s remaining games.
Alli’s red mist capped a bad night for second-placed Spurs as their failure to beat the Baggies left leaders Leicester seven points clear at the top of the table with just three games to play.
Former top ref Mark Halsey insists Alli will miss the whole of Spurs’ title run-in.
He said: “Alli should be suspended for the rest of the season. Referee Mike Jones is looking at where the ball is out wide and Alli has clearly punched Claudio Yacob in the stomach inside the penalty box.
“It’s a clear act of violent conduct and the FA should not ignore this.
“They should look at that, take retrospective action and he should face the ultimate sanction. They will all see that as violent conduct and say he should have been sent off.
“I was also surprised Mike Jones didn’t show a card for Kyle Walker’s kick at Salomon Rondon.
