Kenyan influencer Dem Wa Facebook has shared her journey from hardship to recognition in the entertainment industry. She revealed how a chance encounter in Nairobi changed her life.
Dem Wa Facebook moved to Nairobi from her village with ambitions of making it in the entertainment scene. She initially stayed with a friend in Pipeline but struggled to adjust to city life. “I moved in with a friend in Pipeline, but life became so hard for me. There were so many people there. I was so used to the soft life,” she told Radio 47.
During her time in Nairobi, she met a fan named Boaz in the CBD. Boaz, who lived with his wife and children, invited her to visit them and even sent her fare. “I met up with one of my fans and he told me that his wife and kids loved me so much and that I should plan to visit them. So he gave me his number. When I went back to Pipeline, he called me and told me that he had informed his wife and kids that he had met me in town. He said I should plan and visit him. He sent fare. I saw that he was serious,” she explained.
Her visit marked a turning point. Boaz’s wife offered her a place to stay, concerned about her difficult living conditions in Pipeline. The family accommodated her in their two-bedroom home, provided a bed, and took care of her for five months. “I went to see them and I started living with them. They took care of me. They were living in a two-bedroom house. They got a bed for me. I stayed there for five months,” Dem Wa Facebook recounted.
This support gave her stability and allowed her to focus on building her content career. The experience highlights how unexpected kindness and community support can play a crucial role in shaping the path of aspiring creators.
Dem Wa Facebook’s story continues to inspire young influencers who are navigating challenges in pursuit of their dreams, proving that resilience and support can transform hardships into opportunities.
