Radio Maisha and KTN’s DJ Darius is mourning the loss of his parents, Josiah and Hellen Biyongo, who died in a road accident on August 6. The couple was involved in a fatal head-on collision along the Nakuru-Bomet highway while travelling to Nairobi for a family graduation.
Titi Nagwalla, Darius’s co-host, shared details of that day, describing a heavy atmosphere during their radio show. She said Darius felt uneasy all morning. “Even as the show began, I could feel something wasn’t right. DJ Darius was restless, his mix was off, and he kept stepping out to take calls,” she said.
Darius reportedly told Titi he had a bad feeling about his parents. Despite seeking answers, no clear information came until late at night. After 11 pm, he left to check on his family. Around midnight, Darius broke the devastating news to Titi that both his parents had passed away.
The couple was en route to attend the graduation of Darius’s brother, journalist Edwin Nyarangi. The tragic accident has left the family in deep grief.
In a heartfelt update, Darius shared that they had safely arrived in Kisii and taken his parents’ bodies to the morgue. He thanked fans for their support and asked for understanding as the family copes with the loss. “This has been a painful journey, but your love has been our strength,” he wrote.
Social media was flooded with condolences from Kenyans expressing sympathy and prayers for Darius and his family. Comments included messages of strength, comfort, and shared sorrow.
This tragic loss comes amid other sad news in Kenya’s entertainment scene, including the recent passing of Kisumu’s respected music figure, Mista Ade Ade.
DJ Darius and his family now face the difficult task of healing after losing Josiah and Hellen Biyongo. The community continues to stand by them in support during this challenging time.
