President William Ruto’s Jamhuri Day celebrations on December 12 featured an impressive lineup of Kenyan musicians who entertained guests at the Uhuru Gardens. Among the artists who took to the stage were Jaguar, Mejja (also known as Okwonko), Jua Cali, Gidi Gidi and Ghost of Radio Jambo, and others, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the attendees.
However, one name that stirred confusion online was DJ Joe Mfalme. A user on the X app (formerly Twitter) listed DJ Joe Mfalme as one of the performers at the event, causing fans and social media users to speculate about his involvement. The post quickly spread, and many assumed that the popular DJ had graced the stage at the national celebration.
In response to these claims, DJ Joe Mfalme was quick to clarify the situation. He took to social media to state that he was at home, not at the event, refuting the assumption that he had performed. He wrote: “So I’m at home, and you’re saying I’m at Uhuru Gardens? Kindly remove my name from this post and verify the information before posting. Don’t just post randomly because you’ve been paid.”
His clarification helped set the record straight, and the DJ urged social media users to ensure the accuracy of their posts before sharing information. This mix-up highlights the importance of verifying information, especially when it involves public figures.
Meanwhile, other notable artists who performed at the celebrations included former Starehe MP Jaguar, Jua Cali, Mejja, Mr. Lenny, Collo of the iconic boy band Kleptomaniax, P-Unit trio, DNA, Madtraxx, Esther Wahome, Habib, and Daddy Owen, among others.
The festivities also saw social media users sharing their thoughts, with many praising the vibrant entertainment lineup, while others pointed out the tendency of celebrities to align themselves with government events.
As the celebrations came to a close, it was clear that the event successfully highlighted Kenya’s rich cultural heritage, with a touch of modern-day entertainment that continues to captivate the nation’s diverse audiences.
