Former Maria actress Dorea Chege has addressed the concerns raised by her followers regarding her decision to hire a night nurse to help care for her newborn. The new mom, who welcomed her daughter in March, has been transparent about her parenting choices and how she balances motherhood with rest.
In a recent video shared on their family YouTube page, Dorea explained why she chose to hire a night nurse, revealing that it has been a game-changer for her well-being. “Things have been made easier for new mums and mums-to-be,” she said, addressing the mixed reactions to her decision. The actress clarified that she still spends ample time bonding with her baby during the day. “I have the whole day to bond with the baby,” she explained. “The night nurse comes at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and she takes care of the baby while I rest as a mom.”
Dorea highlighted that she exclusively breastfeeds her baby at night, and after that, the nurse takes over to provide the necessary care. She emphasized that hiring a night nurse allows her to recharge and be present for her baby during the day. “There’s no medal and price in suffering,” she added. “If I can do it, you can also do it.”
The actress also encouraged other women who may have had difficult experiences during their first pregnancy not to give up on expanding their families. “If you had given up on having another child or having one, start,” she said. Dorea went on to advise men, especially those who work at night like her husband, to consider such services to support their partners who have just given birth.
The decision to hire help has sparked a range of reactions on social media. Some followers praised Dorea for her openness and balance in parenting, while others joked about the “baby girl treatment” she is enjoying. One user commented, “She took time to get a baby, and this is why Dorea is enjoying the fruits of her hard work and prayers.”
As for her journey through motherhood, Dorea recently shared a video of herself feeding her baby from a bottle, explaining that she had a cesarean section (CS) and struggled to produce enough breast milk initially. Despite the challenges, Dorea remains focused on ensuring the best for her baby, embracing the help she has hired and setting an example for others to prioritize their well-being without guilt.
Through her candidness, Dorea continues to break societal expectations, proving that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to motherhood.
