The life of Evans Kosgei, a man recently thrust into the spotlight due to tragic circumstances, has been marked by both sacrifice and hardship. Born and raised in the serene landscapes of Elgeyo Marakwet, Kosgei encountered academic challenges early on, having to repeat Form Four three times before his life took a significant turn.

It was during this tumultuous period that he crossed paths with Jackline Jemutai Kimaiyo, a bright and ambitious young woman whose dreams of education resonated deeply with Kosgei’s values. Their relationship blossomed amidst the challenges of their hometown, and soon they embarked on a journey of love and commitment, despite the obstacles they faced.

As their family grew, with Jackline expecting their first child, Kosgei made a crucial decision to take her back to his parent’s home, where they welcomed their newborn before he set out for Nyeri County in search of employment opportunities. However, before his departure, a poignant choice was made within the family circle – Kosgei would sell their precious assets, including trees and sheep, to finance Jackline’s education.

“We agreed with him that he had planted trees. He himself cut down all the trees and sold his sheep to continue with the education of his wife,” revealed Kosgei’s father during an emotional interview with Eldoret Online TV’s YouTube channel.

The news of the tragic deaths of both Evans Kosgei and Jackline Jemutai Kimaiyo sent shockwaves through the community, leaving their family grappling with disbelief and searching for answers. The depth of Kosgei’s sacrifices adds a poignant layer to the unfolding narrative, shedding light on the lengths to which he went to support his wife’s aspirations.

As investigations into the alleged crimes continue, the story of Evans Kosgei serves as a reminder of the complexities of human lives, intertwined with love, sacrifice, and ultimately, profound tragedy.
