Popular TikToker and digital humanitarian Githaiga wa Chai has ignited national outcry after exposing the harrowing story of a Kenyan woman allegedly assaulted by her baby daddy, who is reportedly a member of the General Service Unit (GSU). The heartbreaking images and details, shared on his social media platforms, have triggered widespread anger and urgent calls for justice.
Githaiga, known for leveraging his online presence to support people in distress, posted shocking before-and-after photos showing the woman’s face swollen and disfigured from the alleged attack. Alongside the images, he shared a desperate plea from the victim’s sister, who revealed that the man responsible was not only unapologetic but also boasted about being untouchable due to his connections and position within the disciplined forces.
The victim’s sister further submitted critical evidence to support her claims, including hospital records, an Occurrence Book (OB) number from a police station, a completed P3 form documenting the injuries, and even an audio recording allegedly capturing the assault in progress. “He says there’s nothing we can do since he comes from a wealthy family and works in the forces,” the sister’s message read.
Frustrated by a lack of action from law enforcement, she turned to Githaiga for help. “Please post it on Facebook and TikTok so it can go viral and we can seek justice. The police are doing nothing because it’s one of their own,” she added.
Githaiga said he was overwhelmed by the woman’s injuries and felt compelled to act. “I wasn’t fundraising. I just wanted to get her story out to people who can help. A foundation has already reached out to her, and the PS for Gender and Affirmative Action, Anne, has requested her contact information,” he said. Githaiga confirmed he connected the family with Ndugu Nyoro, another popular humanitarian, to facilitate aid.
His post has since gone viral, drawing reactions from thousands of Kenyans who were stunned and enraged by the cruelty of the attack and the alleged abuse of power. Social media users flooded the comments with messages of support and condemnation of the perpetrator.
This latest case has renewed concerns about gender-based violence and the systemic challenges victims face when the accused holds institutional power. While Githaiga’s intervention has brought visibility to the issue, the broader public continues to demand swift justice and accountability.
In recent months, Kenya has witnessed a series of cases that highlight the vulnerability of women, including the story of Faith Kathambi from Kisii, who was violently assaulted while holding her baby. Such incidents underscore a troubling pattern that continues to stir public frustration and demand institutional change.
As the story unfolds, Githaiga wa Chai’s advocacy has once again proven the power of digital platforms in pushing for justice. Kenyans are watching closely, expecting action—not silence—from authorities.
