Government Plans To Shut Down Social Media During 2017 Election

Government of Kenya is planning to take charge of social media during the much awaited. And plans are underway to see they are implemented.

In an effort to cub propaganda and hate speech, the government has then released this statement on the press.

Government want all the social media groups like what’s app groups to be registered and all group admins be personally responsible for any abuse of use of their groups.

Safaricom and other networks are on last stages on effecting this government directive .this will lead to all groups being deactivated until the admin formally register with network providers and get clean bill from communication society of Kenya.

The government is also planning to burn all political WhatsApp groups three months to General Election.

The government security department  in Mombasa have welcome the move and assured residence within Mombasa county that the directive will be implemented accordingly.

Africa continent has been marred by election violence for last few years, in response the government has resorted to curbing or just shutting down social media platforms majorly Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp in an effort to prevent the spread of false propaganda.
