Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s wife Susan Wangare was among the 15 suspects arrested on Wednesday in the latest swoop of officials who were involved in illegal construction of buildings in Nairobi.
Owners of the Jamii Bora building and Delta Hotel were also arrested.
Mrs.Wangare’s arrest comes days after Governor Waititu’s viral remarks over demolition of buildings standing on public or riparian lands.
Aka Baba Yao, believed that ‘moving’ rivers aside than destroying properties was more economical.
The arrest also comes days after President Uhuru Kenyatta directed that all those who were involved in approving construction of such houses to be arrested and charged.
The president also reinstated that he was ready to lose more friends.
