Profiles you visited, media you viewed, conversations and documents sent via Messenger… All of this is registered on Facebook, as well as other secret information. They say that nobody has access to it, but, what do you believe?
Other apps like Instagram, from the same company, or competitor Google, have the same practice. Through artificial intelligence algorithms such as the pixel, all your steps on the internet are recorded on the servers of these companies. A New Zealand reporter investigated and was surprised by the data that Facebook stored about him. Nick Whigham didn’t even know that there were any.
According to him, the information in the app ranged from private rental contracts to even the most silly conversations he had ever had on the platform. Billing statements and bank information were also on the list. The reporter reported a serious discomfort he had when he found out that the site knew more about him than he did.
To have access to your secret data stored on the platform is a simple thing: Just go to the top right corner of the main page and access the settings. Then, access the link “Your Information on Facebook” and click on “Download your Information”. Does it look safe? Well know that many hackers have enormous ease in breaking into social network accounts.
Wait and you will receive an email with a link to download the requested data. It takes about 40 minutes to an hour for correspondence to be sent. Facebook does not hide that it has such functionality and argues that this practice “keeps the platform free”.
In fact, this behavior is described in the platform’s data policy, which 99% of people do not read. It is through these records that the application shows personalized ads and publications from the friends who interact with you the most, to the detriment of others. How about lowering your secrets?
