Google recently launched the “Me on the web” security tool, which allows users to be aware when a publication is made on the Internet with their name.
“Me on the web” sends email notifications with the results of news searches or portals on the net.
Setting it up is very simple, first, you have to enter your personal Gmail account, once this is done, from the address google.com/settings/datatools a screen like this will appear, in which you will have to click on the option that says ‘Display options’.
Then a new screen will open with three options: Find yourself, Stay informed with Google Alerts and Check your Google+ profile.
The first is a quick search of what users see when they post anything with your name on it. In the second option is the activation of alerts with the results of the searches that will be sent by email.
The system will ask if you want to start configuring alerts, to do so you must press the ‘Create Alerts’ button.
Then, when pressing ‘Manage Google Alerts’, a menu will be displayed where you can add a list of words, data or information that relates to you and about which you want to receive alerts. The frequency has three options: When it occurs, once a day or once a week.
Once this is done, the alerts are saved automatically and you will receive an email with the search results made on the web.
