Available intern positions
The positions run from 1st of August to 31st of January for the fall semester and 1st of February to 31st of July for the spring semester.
There are continuously four interns at the Danish Embassy in Nairobi working within the following teams:
• The Governance & Health Team
• The Somalia Team
• The Business Team
• Green Growth & Employment Team
Please note that a Danish citizenship or fulfillment of the following requirements is required: The applicant has lived in Denmark for a longer period of time (at least 3-4 years), is admitted at a Danish University or Business School and at the time of applying has residence in Denmark.
Governance & Health
Do you wish to assist in the implementation of the Governance Programme (2016-2020) and the Health Programme (2017-2020) in Kenya? Do you have an interest in monitoring a post-Election political situation where power dynamics are changing? Do issues of public financial management, devolution, stabilisation and anti-radicalisation, civic education, gender equality and rule of law appeal to your curiosity or field of study? Are you motivated by aid negotiations in an international environment, and communicating Danish development assistance to the public? Somalia Team
Are you interested in working with diplomacy in fragile settings and getting an insight in political administration and aid management at one of Denmark’s largest embassies? As an intern in the Somalia Team, you will be part of the day-to-day management of development and humanitarian programmes as well as political processes. You will assist with a broad array of topics, such as assisting with the implementation of the Country Programme for Somalia 2018-2023 and the Peace and Stabilisation Programme 2018-2022. Business team
Do you have a special interest in synergies between development aid and economic diplomacy, and in creating value from development aid to trade and Danish private sector involvement in developing countries? Then an internship with the Business Team will interest you. You shall be a part of the Business Team, which includes taking part in everyday activities of the Trade Council on various areas, and furthermore, closely collaborating with the three Sector Counsellors. You will get insight into business development, Danida programmes, emerging markets and economic diplomacy in Kenya. Read more here.
Green Growth and Employment
Are you interested in International Development, Green Growth, Climate Change, Sustainability and public-private sector collaboration in Africa? Are you interested in understanding the dynamics between economic growth, environmental sustainability and climate change at national level? As an intern in the Green Growth & Employment Programme you will be part of the day-to-day management of development programmes that cut across public and private sectors as well as civil society organizations. You will assist with a broad array of topics, such as assisting with the implementation of the Thematic Programme in addition to collaborating with other programmes within the Embassy to promote environmental sustainability in Kenya.
