Kenyan actress Jackie Matubia has stirred up social media conversations once again after candidly recalling a moment when her ex-partner, actor Blessing Lung’aho, allegedly asked her for gas money shortly after she had given birth to their daughter. The revelation, which left many fans in disbelief, comes just as a resurfaced video shows the former couple discussing their future family plans — with Blessing expressing his desire for five children.
In the throwback clip, originally posted on TikTok, the pair were answering fan questions about their relationship. Blessing shared his hopes of raising a big family, saying, “Five. We can adopt. I have always wanted a big family.” The then-pregnant Jackie looked visibly surprised, questioning why he had never mentioned it before.
Jackie responded with firm honesty, saying she only wanted two children and had already reached her limit. “We are already a big family, are we not? I don’t know where the other three Blessing wants will come from. It is easier to navigate with two kids. Life is already hard — you don’t want one going to group of schools and the other one saying 133,” she added, referencing the economic realities of raising multiple children.
The resurfaced video has gone viral in light of Jackie’s recent interview where she accused Blessing of being a deadbeat dad. According to the former Tahidi High actress, not only did she pay for all household bills despite them living together, but Blessing also asked her for gas money while she was still in hospital after delivering their daughter.
“I had just given birth and was in the hospital when he asked me for gas money. That was the moment I knew I was truly alone,” Jackie disclosed in the emotional tell-all.
Jackie and Blessing, who were once admired for their on-screen chemistry and off-screen romance, parted ways just months after welcoming their daughter in 2022. Their breakup was confirmed after fans noticed their absence from each other’s social media and red carpet events.
Despite the end of their relationship, Jackie revealed that she tried to convince Blessing to stay involved in their daughter’s life. However, she said he misinterpreted her efforts as a ploy to rekindle their romance. “I wasn’t trying to get back with him. I just wanted him to be a father to our child,” she said.
Since the split, Jackie has been open about her healing journey. She revealed earlier this year that she has been celibate for three years and is hopeful to find love again in 2025. In a light-hearted Instagram post, she even joked about accepting CVs from potential suitors.
“Love is still on the vision board. 2025 looks promising,” she teased.
With her raw honesty and growing confidence, Jackie Matubia continues to inspire many women navigating love, motherhood, and self-worth. Whether calling out deadbeat parenting or setting new goals for herself, Jackie is proof that vulnerability can also be a powerful form of strength.
