Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange made a surprise return to his popular show, JKL, on December 10, ending weeks of speculation about his absence. Jeff had been off the air since October, leaving fans and viewers confused as neither he nor the station explained his sudden disappearance. This silence fueled widespread rumours online, ranging from illness to claims of his death.

During his Wednesday show, JKL continued with guest hosts filling in for Jeff. Amid these rumours, former colleague Xtian Dela shared a screenshot of a conversation confirming that Jeff was alive and well. His return to the screen was highly anticipated by fans eager to see him back at work.

Jeff was warmly welcomed on set by colleague Ayub Abdikadir, who handed the show back to him in a playful moment. Jeff joked about being “killed” but said he was back as if he had never left. The two hosts tested a fire extinguisher and made light jokes about props, signaling that everything was in order. Guests PLO Lumumba and Barrack Muluka joined in the laughter, with PLO quipping that Jeff had made his “second coming.”

In a humorous nod to his absence, Jeff wore a shirt with “Lazarus” printed on it, referencing the biblical figure who rose from the dead. The lighthearted tone of the show delighted viewers, who took to social media to celebrate his return. Many expressed relief and excitement, sharing humorous and emotional messages online.

Despite his reappearance, Jeff did not provide details about his time away from live TV. He focused instead on thanking viewers for their messages and support. “Thank you to everyone who supported and sent me messages. I am truly grateful,” he said during the show.

Kenyans reacted enthusiastically on social media. Fans used humor and creative references to mark his comeback. One wrote, “Jeff the third, after Lazarus the first, then Jesus the second, now it’s Jeff the third in resurrection.” Others expressed relief and excitement at seeing him back on screen, describing it as a long-awaited moment for viewers of JKL.

Jeff Koinange’s return ended weeks of speculation and brought joy to his audience. While he did not address the reasons behind his absence, his lighthearted and warm reception reaffirmed his place as a beloved figure in Kenyan media. Fans can now look forward to more episodes of JKL with their favourite host back at the helm.
