Kenyan actress Joy Ohon, famously known for her role in the popular TV show Machachari, has shared some personal details about her relationship with Jeremy Kiuna, the son of renowned Kenyan pastor Kathy Kiuna. A Teenage Love Story

Joy and Jeremy Kiuna’s relationship began during their teenage years, and they maintained a long-distance romance for a significant part of their time together. Despite their breakup, Joy emphasized that there are no hard feelings between them.

“We were very young, not that much older than me. We did long distance for a while, maybe like three years, but we’re like homies now. We’re tight. I don’t have any issues with my exes. I have a problem, though, with cool guys,” she explained during the interview.

This mature and amicable relationship dynamic between Joy and Jeremy speaks volumes about their mutual respect for one another, even after they decided to part ways.

Moving On and Looking Forward to Marriage

While Joy has remained friends with her ex, she revealed that she is now in a serious relationship and is planning to marry within the year. The actress made it clear that she is eager to begin the next chapter of her life.

“My wedding is soon. I’ll get married early. From now, count one year, I’ll be married. I’m not getting kids. I’m getting married, that’s the difference. She’s a bridesmaid. I already asked,” Joy shared excitedly.

She also mentioned that her wedding will take place in Diani, with a traditional ceremony in Nambale, a nod to her roots. The couple has already started planning, and Joy even joked about her bridesmaid role, highlighting her excitement about the upcoming nuptials.

Dowry and Family Dynamics

When Oga Obinna asked her about the dowry, Joy candidly shared her family’s views. She explained that her father’s side of the family had distanced themselves due to his marriage to her mother, a Kikuyu woman. As a result, Joy stated that the tradition of dowry would not be observed in her wedding.

“I don’t have to worry about the dowry. Why take it to people who didn’t want me? The wedding will be in Diani, but we’re not doing the dowry. Don’t take me seriously though, I’m method acting,” she jokingly added.

Taking a Break from Acting to Focus on Other Ventures

In the same interview, Joy also opened up about her decision to take a break from acting. She shared that while acting was a rewarding experience, it didn’t always provide the financial stability she desired. She explained that few actors in Kenya are able to earn a decent living, and the effort required for roles, especially intimate scenes, often didn’t match the compensation.

Joy mentioned that she had shifted her focus to business ventures and other experiences, a move that aligns with her personal values. Despite this, she humorously referred to herself as a “professional wedding guest,” hinting at her deep interest in marriage ceremonies.

Graduation and Future Plans

In other exciting news, Joy Ohon recently graduated from Daystar University in 2024, an achievement she celebrated with pride. Fans congratulated her on social media, applauding her for balancing her career, education, and personal growth.

Looking ahead, Joy’s future seems full of promise as she embarks on both her personal journey into marriage and her professional ventures outside acting.

Joy Ohon’s openness about her past relationship with Jeremy Kiuna, her upcoming marriage, and her shift from acting to business shows that she is a woman focused on her future. With a wedding in the works and a promising career path ahead, Joy is undoubtedly a role model for many young women navigating love, career, and personal development. Fans eagerly await the next chapter in her life, both on a personal and professional level.
