Kenyan musician Kareh B, known for her heartfelt Mugithi tunes, recently took part in the viral ‘The Bar Was So Low’ challenge, where people share their most embarrassing and toxic relationship experiences. The singer, born Mary Wangare Gioche, opened up about some painful chapters in her love life, shedding light on the challenges she faced in past relationships.

In her TikTok video, while applying makeup, Kareh B shared an unsettling story of how low expectations led her to pay for a date. “I realized the bar was low when I had to pay for dinner on a date,” she said. To avoid embarrassing her partner, Kareh discreetly passed him the money under the table, wanting him to maintain a sense of pride. The admission left many fans stunned, with some unable to believe that someone as confident as Kareh had gone through such experiences.

But the surprises didn’t stop there. Kareh also revealed that she had been cheated on by an ex who had an affair with her own cousin. The betrayal took place in her house, and even worse, in her own bed. When confronted, the ex tried to justify his actions, claiming that her cousin had lured him and he didn’t know what to do. Kareh B recounted the experience with a mix of disbelief and regret, making it clear that such behavior was not something she ever imagined herself enduring.

The stories sparked a wave of responses from her fans, many of whom shared their own unbelievable relationship experiences in the comments section. One fan wrote, “The bar was so low when I gave him 20k for Christmas,” while another shared, “The bar was too low I gave him 15k for therapy, aheal tupendane vizuri.” The challenge quickly became a space for others to share their personal stories of toxic relationships, some finding solace in knowing they were not alone in their struggles.

Despite the painful experiences, Kareh B’s resilience shines through. She has been open about her journey, both in her music and personal life. Her fans admire her for speaking out and sharing the lessons she’s learned from her toxic relationships.

Kareh B has faced more than her share of heartbreak, but she continues to show incredible strength. Recently, she marked the anniversary of the tragic loss of her son, Joseph Mwadulo, in a road accident. While reflecting on the pain of that loss, Kareh B called for justice, emphasizing how often justice in Kenya feels like an empty phrase.

Kareh B’s candid stories of love, betrayal, and recovery have struck a chord with many, leaving her followers inspired by her bravery to open up about her experiences.
