The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is pleased to announce to the general public the recruitment of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets and Specialist Officers which is scheduled to take place in the months of August and September 2018.
KDF CADETS RECRUITMENT 2018 REQUIREMENT
(2) Be aged between 18 and 26 years
(3) Not be less than 5 ft 3 in. (5’3”) high
(4) Weigh at least:
(a) Men – 54.55 Kg (120 lb)
(b) Women – 50 Kg (110 lb)
(5) Be medically fit
(6) Not have a criminal record
(7) Be in possession of a valid National Identity Card
(8) Hold a mean Grade B (Plain) certificate or higher standard of education. Preference to be given to graduates.
(9) Female candidates must NOT be pregnant.
KDF CADET SPECIALIST OFFICER RECRUITMENT 2018
(1) General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets recruitment 2018
Must hold a minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE with at least C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics and one science subject. The initial training period for this category will cover three (3) continuous years leading to a BSc in Military Science and Security Studies on successful completion.
(2) Specialist officers cadets recruitment 2018
Must hold a minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE with at least C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics and one science subject. Must be holder of an undergraduate degree from a recognized University/institution and be registered with statutory body where applicable. The initial training period for Specialist Officers will not be less than three months.

Specialist Officers
(1) Medical Officers
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and be registered with Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB).
(2) Dentists
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery and be registered with Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB).
(3) Nurses cadets recruitment 2018
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
(4) Medical Laboratory Officers cadets recruitment
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences and be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
(5) Education Officers cadets recruitment 2018
Must be graduates from a recognized University with at least a Bachelor of Education or Arts or Science degree and a post graduate diploma in education with at least two (2) years’ working experience and be registered with Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
(6) Applied Mathematicians
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics.
(7) Clinical/Counseling Psychologists
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling Psychology or Msc in Clinical Psychology.
(8) Computer Science/Information Technologists cadets recruitment 2018
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or in Information Technology with at least two (2) years working experience.
(9) Forensic Investigators (Cyber Security)
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science / Computer Forensic Science.
(10) Telecommunication Engineers cadets recruitment 2018
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized University and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
(11) Aeronautical Engineers
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from a recognized University.
(12) Statisticians
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics.
(13) Mechanical Engineers
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
(14) Electrical & Electronic Engineers cadets recruitment 2018
Must be holder of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized University and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
(15) Instrumentation and Control Engineers
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Instrumentation and Control from a recognized University.
(16) Textile Engineers
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Technology degree in Textile Engineering and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
(17) Procurement Officers
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supplies Management.
(18) Public Health Officers
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health Sciences.
(19) Architects
Must be holders of at least a Bachelor in Architecture degree from a recognized University and be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS).
(20) Quantity Surveyors
Must be holders of at least a degree in Quantity Survey Engineering and be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS).
(21) Lawyers cadets recruitment 2018
Must be holders of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized University, be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, hold a current and valid practising certificate with at least two (2) years working experience. Experience in litigation will be an added advantage.
(22) Chaplains/Imams cadets recruitment 2018
Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Theology/ Islamic studies from recognized Institutions. For Protestant Churches and Roman Catholic Chaplains, must be ordained ministers and recommended by Episcopal Conference and Archbishop respectively. Imams to be recommended by the Chief Kadhi.
(23) GIS Programmers
Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering and GIS.
(24) Assistant Directors of Music (Band Masters)
Must be holders of a Bachelors’ degree in Music.
(25) Broadcast Producers
Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Communication having majored in audio and visual broadcast production and with at least two (2) years working experience.
