Station Manager
Reporting to the Regional Outstation Manager Ground Services, the ideal candidate will be overall accountable for planning, directing and controlling all ground handling aspects of Kenya Airways at the station.
Principle Accountabilities:
Policies and Procedures:
- Liaise with relevant authorities and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, processes, procedures, organization standards and local procedures is achieved so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Ensure adherence of all Kenya Airways documented standards by all station staff, ground Handling staff and all other service providers.
Safety, Quality & Environment:
- Promote and maintain a positive safety culture, a healthy, secure and cost-effective operation for Kenya Airways operations and ensure compliance with the relevant industry/legislative requirements and company procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure timely remediation and corrective action is taken based on audit findings and/or risk assessment analysis.
- Conduct a monthly review of the risk control environment of the station and submit the Risk Control Matrix (RCM) quarterly.
- Manage and be responsible for the implementation of the Local Emergency Accident Plan (LEAP).
- Identify and report safety hazards, near misses, incident and accidents.
Day-to-Day Operations:
- Monitor that standards of punctuality and customer service are delivered by third parties as per contract and Service Level agreement and in accordance with the company policies and procedures and relevant regulatory authorities.
- Represent Kenya Airways at AOC meetings to address airport facilitation issues.
- Ensure that customer service is delivered to a high standard that meets our customer needs and expectation as defined at corporate level.
- Drive “on Time Performance” culture within the station and constantly engage all stakeholders to maintain the highest performance.
- Conduct monthly spot checks and inspections of the station performance and SLA adherence.
- Ensure Station has all the required, current operations manuals, publications and any other related documents needed to conduct ground handling operations and that all eligible users including Kenya Airways station staff, Ground Handling Agents (GHA)/Ground Service Providers (GSPs) have:
a)Received and acknowledged.
b)Access to the manuals in a usable format.
c)Comprehensively understood the content.
d)Implemented as recommended/documented.
- Ensure that the Load Control procedures and loading supervision responsibilities are correctly undertaken as per company policies and also document the station process flow.
- Identify deviations in the published procedures and establish local procedures and document them in the Local Station Manual (LSM).
- Supervise SLAs and monitor performance of the Ground Handling Agent (GHA).
- Coordinate and manage all measures in respect of catering & maintenance services, crew, security, emergency and accident procedures
- Monitor and validate invoices received against services offered and prices charged in order to manage station costs in line with the budget.
- Drive and implement all cost saving initiatives as determined and communicated by Manager Outstation.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports on Ground Handling activity in the station.
- Interpret and monitor safety standards, regulations and security awareness.
- Promote company image to enhance public relations, visibility in the market and customer loyalty.
- Ensure implementation of Kenya Airways WAY best practice at the station.
Knowledge, Skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Supervisory OR 5 years in all round Ground Handling.
- Safety Management System (SMS) Awareness and Airside Safety –Initial trainings.
- KQ – Dangerous Goods Regulations Category 10 (CAT 10) training and Aviation Security –Initial trainings.
- Station/Ground Handling Management (IATA) or equivalent.
- Management skills, Customer Service and passenger handling trainings.
- Demonstrable experience in financial management/Cost Control.
- Superior team leadership, team working and co-operation skills with the ability to drive change management.
- Strategic, creative, and analytical thinker with excellent stakeholders’ and risk management skills.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills as well as excellent communication skills.
- Ability to handle pressure and difficult situations with resilience, calmly and effectively.

Outstation Assistant Accountant
Reporting to the Outstation Accountant, the ideal candidate will be required to co-ordinate finance functions at the station and to facilitate updating of financial records in compliance with management, regulatory requirements and financial reporting best practices and standards.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Prepare and balance daily sales returns in the prescribed format and form, deposit/bank daily sales in compliance with Treasury policy.
- Raise cash receipts and upload/ submit copies of return/reporting forms to Head office to facilitate prompt reconciliation.
- Allocate, reconcile, and clear outstanding counter cash transactions on a daily basis.
- Reconcile petty cash balances to physical cash held to ensure no loss and to ensure Station is optimally funded to meet daily operating needs.
- Validate and authenticate stations petty cash expense claims and ensure proper supporting documentation and approval as per company policy before processing payment.
- Promptly scan and submit authenticated and validated supplier invoices to Head office for settlement to ensure suppliers are paid by due dates to avoid late payment penalties and impairment of the company’s reputation.
- Check and validate all Direct Operating Costs invoices to contract rate and operations statistics before submitting them to Head Office.
- Receive, validate and in liaison with the sales offices, promptly process customer/guest ticket refund claim.
- Process customer invoices, match to LPOs and dispatch fully matched invoices and statements promptly to the customers.
- Follow up station’s debtors for payment to ensure debts are collected as per credit policy and that credit limits are not exceeded.
- Follow tax guidelines to ensure full compliance for all transactions processed at the station.
- Ensure all station purchases are as per company’s procurement policy – supported by approved quotes and or contract to ensuring that the company gets value for money.
- Co-ordinate audits at the station – statutory audits, internal and external audits, and ensure timely closure of any audit items/findings.
Knowledge, Skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or related business degree from a recognized University and CPA part II.
OR
- Full CPA qualification or its equivalent and pursuing undergraduate business degree.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant accounting experience in a commercial environment.
- Airline experience would be added advantage.
- Practical working experience in use of accounting packages.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills as well as excellent communication skills.
- Must be a person of unquestionable integrity.
