Several Kenyan content creators have received multiple nominations at the 2025 TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa, scheduled for 6 December 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The annual event recognises creators who use the platform to inform, entertain, and connect audiences across the continent.

Kenya continues to solidify its presence on TikTok, with nominees representing diverse fields including education, storytelling, sports, animation, and social impact. The selections highlight how Kenyan creators are leveraging short-form video to share ideas, promote creativity, and foster online communities.

Kenyan Nominees in 2025

  1. @englishwithclem – Creator of the Year & Education Creator of the Year
Based in Nairobi, Clem has gained a large following for his engaging English lessons that help learners across Africa improve communication skills. His double nomination in major categories underscores his impact in education and content creation.
  2. @roy.kanyi – Education Creator of the Year
Roy Kanyi is recognised for breaking down tech concepts and sharing innovative tips in an interactive format. His content exemplifies a new wave of creators using TikTok to explore technology and inspire learning.
  3. @valerie_keter and @anitasoina – Social Impact Creator of the Year
Environmental advocate Anita Soina and content creator Valerie Keter are nominated for their work in social change. From sustainability campaigns to women’s empowerment initiatives, they demonstrate how TikTok can amplify critical community issues.
  4. @boxtoboxregista and @zozasportscast – Sports Creator of the Year
Both Nairobi-based, these creators focus on football commentary and analysis. Their in-depth breakdowns of games, player performances, and football culture have built strong audiences across Africa.
  5. @tunero_animations – Rising Star of the Year
Tunero Animations, based in Nairobi, creates humorous, uniquely Kenyan skits that have helped popularise African animation on TikTok. His nomination reflects growing recognition of digital artists and animators in the region.

Boniswa Sidwaba, TikTok’s Head of Content Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa, said the awards celebrate creators who connect with audiences and build communities. “Our annual awards are a moment for reflection and celebration where we build deeper relationships with the people who power the continent. At its core, the TikTok Awards celebrate the vibrant community who continue to inspire creativity, build community and spread joy on the platform while turning their passions into prosperous careers,” Sidwaba said.

Public voting for the awards is open until 14 November 2025 at 1:00 a.m. (EAT). Users can vote once per category per day by following the instructions on their favourite creators’ accounts.
