Kenyan man working in US army, Leonard Kiptoo Langat who is a son to a former  women rep from Rift Valley has been dismissed from the United States Naval Academy  where he was training as a soldier.

Langat was sentenced up to 24 years behind bars after he was found guilty of forceful sex and raping a minor in North Carolina.

The minor in question was a sister to his elder brother’s wife. He has already been sent on leave from the training academy after pleading guilty for the sex offence.

Tuition training is normally funded by the navy, while the recruits at the training level are one of the highest paid American employees.

When the crime happened in 2017 December 30 he was on leave.

Police told the court that he entered the room of the minor and committed the sex offence. Capt. John Tierney of the Concord Police Department also told the court that another relative of the victim caught him in the room of the victim.

Langat left North Carolina where he was living and returned to the Naval Academy. Police used a fugitive warrant of arrest to get him.

He pleaded guilty of  indecent liberties with a minor, a felony sex offense in North Carolina  at Cabarrus County Superior Court.

The victim case was first reported at a children care centre.
