Kenya’s leading mobile communication company Safaricom on 18th June launched the newest ever feature dubbed ‘Reverse Call’ which enables the caller to transfer the cost of the call to the recipient

To employ the feature, the over 31 million subscribers will only be allowed to start with # before the number they are dialing so as to transfer the calling cost.

The recipient, will get the call as usual but upon receiving, he or she will get a voice message prompting him to press 1 so as to enable the cost of transfer call.

The transfered cost of the call will be the usual rate.

“This innovation is in line with this commitment and has been tailored to mirror the relationships between our customers with a goal of empowering them to always remain connected with their loved ones,” said Sylvia Mulinge, Chief Customer Officer, Safaricom.

The service is only available for Safaricom to Safaricom calls only

Safaricom’s new was ‘rebuked’ by a section of Kenyan men who popularly move under tag name Boychild .

The boychild group who were also in support of Team Mafisi, were in view that the move would see female gold diggers take advantage of the calling feature .

Here are some of their raised concerns.
