Kenyan rapper Stoopid Boy has ignited a heated debate online after releasing an impromptu freestyle praising President William Ruto’s government during a city tour. The artist, who recently emerged from rehab, publicly affirmed his support for Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid, sparking criticism from many Kenyans who accuse him of abandoning youth struggles amidst widespread joblessness and ongoing protests against the government.

The freestyle was recorded on July 17 during President Ruto’s city tour where he inaugurated several projects and reviewed others. Standing beside a vehicle equipped with a public address system and accompanied by two youths, Stoopid Boy delivered lyrics countering Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s viral “wantam” (one term) chant.

“Wanalia ati ngumi ni jamo, lakini mimi bado najua term ni mbili,
Hawa majamaaa daily wanatupima business yao ni business tumbili,
Niko na Ruto na ni two term, hatuezi enda one term…”
(Stoopid Boy rapped, affirming that despite critics, he believes Ruto will serve two terms.)

He further praised the president for creating youth employment opportunities, a point that drew sharp backlash on social media. Many Kenyans accused Stoopid Boy of betraying the youth by ignoring ongoing challenges such as unemployment, police brutality, and economic hardships.

In other developments, Stoopid Boy publicly accused comedian Oga Obinna of exploiting his rehab journey for personal gain. The rapper alleged that Obinna marketed both his recovery story and the rehabilitation center without providing him with any financial assistance.

He claimed that despite Obinna receiving KSh 450,000 from Australia intended for his welfare, he did not see any of the money. Instead of proper care, Stoopid Boy said he was housed with Obinna’s bodyguard and described the rehab experience as a “business deal” disguised as support.

Oga Obinna, on his part, distanced himself from the allegations, expressing disappointment and hinting at concerns about a possible relapse.

Stoopid Boy’s recent freestyle has once again thrust him into the spotlight, albeit amid controversy. His support for President William Ruto’s second term, juxtaposed with ongoing youth grievances, has polarized opinions across Kenya’s social media landscape.

Meanwhile, the allegations surrounding his rehab experience add another layer of complexity to his public narrative, fueling discussions about accountability and genuine support within the entertainment and recovery communities.

As the 2027 elections approach, voices like Stoopid Boy’s will continue to influence, inspire, or provoke debate on Kenya’s political and social future.
