Samwel Opondo can be described as one of the drowsiest security guard in Kenya.
At the age of just 31 years old, the dad to three kids cannot wake up, once he falls into a slumber land. Not until he does 10 hours in sleep
Not even a chopper crash next to his ear will wake him up, he will sleep and enjoy his sleep nodes for atleast 10 hours.
As a man, his oversleeping condition has come at a huge cost.
He missed among key moments, waking up early for work, meeting appointments and even responding to emergencies.
“I have tried all manner of things to wake him up, including whipping, slapping, banging utensils and even shouting, but all that failed,” says his wife Gladys Opondo
Gladys also has raised an alarm over the man absconding his conjugal duties as the man is always on duty at night and sleeps 10 hours during the day.
At work he rarely sleeps on job but usually comes to work late and compensates by extending more hours in the evening.
According to doctors, he could be suffering from narcolepsy, likely caused by lack of hypocretin, a nerve-signalling hormone in the body.
