Jamaican reggae super-star Jamar Rolando McNaughton Jr popularly known as Chronixx is scheduled to perform in Kenya this Saturday evening at KICC during a grand show dubbed Epic Promotions.

The musician who is at the forefront of the current younger generation of Jamaican reggae cum dancehall music will arrive in the country on Saturday morning after his Ugandan concert on Friday night. He will then proceed to Ethiopia on Sunday evening for another grand concert.

Famed for hits like Smile Jamaica, Chronixx will be visiting the country for the second time after his first performance in 2013 at KICC during which he was a Peace Ambassador prior to Kenya’s General Elections.

Speaking to this writer via phone from Jamaica Chronixx says the friendly and welcoming nature of Kenyan people towards foreigners and their undying love for Jamaican music has always made him feel at home.

According to him unlike many countries across Africa Kenyans seem to have a soft spot for Jamaican music.

He adds that “Most radio stations within Kenya including local clubs are fond of playing Jamaican music besides organizing special theme nights compared to their counterparts.

I am excited to visit Nairobi because Kenya is home to over 60,000 of my Facebook fans,” the second highest country count outside of Jamaica,” he said.

Even with gate charges pegged at Sh1000 for regular and Sh 3000 VIP the event dubbed the Soul Circle Tour courtesy of GoodTimes Africa is expected to attract fans.

Local curtain raisers ZJ Heno & Empire Sounds, Kris Darling & Dhoty Family, Muzikal Sheriff & Ras Style, Fyah Mummah Jahmby & Selector Technics and MC Phillipo will also ensure that fans are given quality entertainment.

Credited for modernizing reggae staples and breathing new life into the roots reggae movement, Chronixx – a lead vocalist is currently ranked one of the most popular reggae artists in the world.
Fondly referred to as one of the leaders of the recent “Reggae Revival” revolution his hits among them  Smile Jamaica and Here Comes Trouble off his 2014, The Dread & Terrible Project which topped both the Billboard and iTunes reggae charts remains a force to reckon with among reggae fans across the world.

The 24- year-old was musically nurtured from an early age by his father, the artist Chronicle, and grew up surrounded by the likes of Burro Banton, Norris Man and Gregory Isaacs. His remarkable ascension in the music industry was in full effect when he began harmonizing for artists such as Lutan Fyah and providing production assistance for tracks sung by Konshens, Honorebel, Popcaan and others.
