Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu aka Baba Yao has made viral comments, suggesting that instead of demolishing buildings which sit on riparian land or along river banks, they should instead divert rivers and safe the buildings.

His comments came days after top buildings such as Ukay Mall, parts of Oshwal Centres were brought down.

“Kama watu wanasupport ubomoaji, mimi hapana support. Mambo iangaliwe kama kuna nyumba yako imekaribiana na mto, wewe uambiwe ni gharama yako kuhakikisha hiyo mto imesonga kidogo. Lakini kubomoa nyumba is not a solution. Honestly speaking. It’s such a big loss,”  Mr Waititu told a Sunday congreagation during a church service in Kikuyu constituency,DP William Ruto was also among the worshipers.

Even President Uhuru Kenyatta is among the top casualties who have suffered the recent demolition spree orchestrated by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko

“Over the last few weeks I have lost so many friends. I have received many calls being asked ‘how can you sit and just watch all this destruction going on. You must stop it.’ But I said, ‘it is difficult to stop, not because we love to destroy but because we must fight impunity’”, said President Kenyatta during a sermon on Sunday at Faith Evangelistic Ministry church in Karen.

I don’t support the government saying we owe China 5 Trillion. Let CBK and De La Rue print that money and return ASAP. Print the Sh. 1000 notes to save paper. @DavidNdii @CBKKenya #babayaochallenge pic.twitter.com/QtQjx7H0Z7
