President Uhuru Kenyatta’s memorandum 2018 Finance Bill is set to cause more pain as it seeks to tax Mpesa users, internet data bundle users and betting wins.
A heavy 15% percent levy will be imposed on telephone and data internet uses while another tough 12% levy charged on mobile money transfer on service providers.
Unlike before when all gamblers took home 100 percent of their catch, they would have to part with a 20% suppose his bill sees the light.
Gambling firms however, will breath with a sigh of relief after their tax will be brought down from 35% to 15%.
As if that is not enough, President Uhuru seeks to lay more tax duty on Kerosene meant for domestic use. This would see Kerosene go above the sh.100 mark competing with diesel and petrol which retain about sh.115 and sh.125 per litre respectively.
The National Assembly is set to discuss the bill amendments on Thursday of 20th, September 2018.

A govt that cannot properly account for what it collects wants more to squander. This is state-sanctioned robbery. Stop looting & unnecessary spending and live within your means. #TaxVoteKe
