1. Tabitha Karanja

Tabitha Karanja is the founder and CEO of Keroche Breweries, one of Kenya’s largest breweries. She started the company in 1997 with her husband, pioneering the production of affordable alcoholic beverages in Kenya. Karanja’s entrepreneurial journey has been marked by resilience and a commitment to local empowerment, as Keroche Breweries has grown to become a significant player in East Africa’s beverage industry.

2. Juliana Rotich

Juliana Rotich is a technologist, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Ushahidi, a non-profit tech company that specializes in developing free and open-source software for information collection, visualization, and interactive mapping. Ushahidi gained global recognition for its role in crisis mapping during Kenya’s post-election violence in 2008 and has since expanded its impact worldwide, empowering communities to gather and share critical information during crises.

3. Evans Wadongo

Evans Wadongo is an engineer and social entrepreneur known for inventing the MwangaBora (“Good Light” in Swahili), a solar-powered LED lantern designed to replace harmful kerosene lamps in rural areas. His organization, Sustainable Development for All (SDFA), has distributed thousands of these lanterns across Kenya, promoting sustainable energy solutions and improving the lives of many rural families.

4. Lorna Rutto

Lorna Rutto is the founder of EcoPost, a social enterprise that recycles plastic waste into environmentally-friendly plastic lumber products. Through her innovative approach, Rutto has not only addressed Kenya’s plastic waste problem but has also created job opportunities for hundreds of people, particularly women and youth, while contributing to environmental conservation efforts.

5. Dr. Catherine Nyongesa

Dr. Catherine Nyongesa is a healthcare innovator and the founder of the AkiraChix organization, which aims to inspire and develop a network of women in technology through training, mentorship, and outreach programs. Dr. Nyongesa’s work has been instrumental in bridging the gender gap in the tech industry in Kenya, empowering young women to pursue careers in STEM fields and become leaders in innovation.

6. Bitange Ndemo

Bitange Ndemo is a prominent academic and former Permanent Secretary in the Kenyan Ministry of Information and Communication. He played a pivotal role in advancing Kenya’s ICT sector, spearheading initiatives such as the East Africa Marine System (TEAMS), which significantly lowered internet connectivity costs in the region. Ndemo continues to be a thought leader and advocate for digital transformation and innovation in Kenya.

7. Mark Kaigwa

Mark Kaigwa is a digital strategist and entrepreneur who co-founded Nendo, a Nairobi-based consultancy that specializes in digital storytelling, research, and strategy. Kaigwa has been influential in shaping digital media trends in Africa, focusing on the intersection of technology, culture, and business. His work has helped African brands and organizations leverage digital platforms for growth and impact.
