Award-winning rapper Khaligraph Jones, born Brian Robert Ouko, has revealed the inspiration behind constructing his grand mansion. The hip-hop star, known for hits like Mazishi and Mbona, shared that his dream to build a luxurious home materialized after an eye-opening trip to Nigeria.
A Life-Changing Experience in Nigeria
Speaking on the Mic Cheque podcast, Khaligraph disclosed that he always envisioned owning a home in Nairobi’s upscale neighborhoods like Kilimani or Kileleshwa. However, his aspirations truly took shape after visiting Rude Boy, one-half of the legendary Nigerian music duo P-Square.
“I went to Nigeria with my manager Francis to shoot a music video, and Rude Boy invited us to his crib. I asked myself, What sort of life is this? I saw that guy was balling, and I told Francis that when we get back, we had to level up,” Khaligraph recounted.
What stood out the most for him was the privacy and comfort of Rude Boy’s mansion, a crucial aspect for a musician seeking a peaceful retreat. He explained that while he had lived in high-end locations before, privacy was often compromised. This experience fueled his determination to create a home that catered to his personal and professional needs.
Bringing the Dream to Life
After returning from Nigeria, Khaligraph immediately put his plans into action. He collaborated with an architect to design his dream house, ensuring every aspect reflected his vision. One of his main requests was a massive closet to accommodate his extensive wardrobe.
Despite the impressive progress, the mansion remains a work in progress. Khaligraph admitted that even selecting curtains has been a challenge due to the house’s enormous floor-to-ceiling windows.
Online Reactions and OG Plaza Jokes
Khaligraph’s mansion has sparked discussions online, with fans humorously comparing its size to a shopping mall and dubbing it “OG Plaza.” However, the rapper remains unfazed, asserting that his success story should serve as motivation for others to pursue their dreams.
The property also features a state-of-the-art music studio, allowing Khaligraph to continue producing hits from the comfort of his home.
How Much Did Khaligraph’s Mansion Cost?
While Khaligraph has not disclosed the exact amount spent on the mansion, construction experts estimate the cost to be around KSh 100 million. Afande Moses, a renowned contractor from Kisii County, praised the house’s high-quality finishes and design, defending Khaligraph against online critics.
Khaligraph’s journey from humble beginnings to owning one of Kenya’s most talked-about homes showcases his relentless drive and ambition. His mansion is more than just a house—it is a testament to his success and a symbol of the levels he aspires to reach in his career and personal life.
