Kimani Mbugua, the former TV journalist, recently emerged from a rehabilitation center after nearly six months of treatment, showcasing an inspiring transformation. His journey, one of deep personal growth and change, has captivated many, as he opened up about his struggle with addiction and his newfound faith in God.

Mbugua, who was admitted to Mombasa Women’s Hospital Rehabilitation Centre for mental health issues, shared his journey of rediscovery and sobriety. Reflecting on his past, Mbugua confessed that while he had been blessed with a remarkable talent, he misused it and lost it. He attributed this to his past beliefs, revealing that he was once an atheist and viewed life through a philosophical lens. However, his time in rehab led him to a profound spiritual awakening.

“I found God. I did. I was an atheist. I look at life from a philosophical point of view. Your worldview is the most important thing. Do you believe in God? If you believe in God, then who is He? How does he speak to you?” Mbugua shared. Over the past six months, he replaced his love for narcotics with a deeper love for God and a renewed passion for music.

Mbugua described the transformation he experienced as nothing short of miraculous. “Over the last six months, I can see in a very personal way that He is with me. I’ve found my higher power. I replaced my love for narcotics with love for God and love for music. Six months clean, and now I’m counting not six months clean but day one of freedom.”

He went on to explain how addiction had once consumed him, leading him to make dangerous decisions just to satisfy his cravings. “When you are an addict, what matters is that kick. You can sell a kidney just to get that kick, and that was me. Now, I realize this is a journey,” he added.

In July, Mbugua expressed his gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, which helped him regain his strength. He asked for continued prayers as he works toward full recovery. The journey to healing, for him, was not just about overcoming addiction, but also about reconnecting with his faith and embracing the opportunity to live a life of purpose.

Kimani Mbugua’s story is a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and the ability to transform one’s life from darkness to light. His decision to embrace God, coupled with his commitment to living a sober life, marks the beginning of a new chapter for this talented journalist.
