Nakuru-based Kenyan musician Alex Mosongo, popularly known as Lexsil, has spoken openly about his music journey, his exit from Otile Brown’s record label Just In Love Music, and what fans can expect from him next. His rise in the Kenyan music scene has been marked by hit collaborations, strong vocal delivery, and a growing fan base that continues to support his evolving sound. Recently, he released a new track titled Mariana, which has already sparked excitement among listeners who are now calling for more music from him. His story reflects both the highs and challenges that come with navigating the competitive music industry. As he pushes forward, Lexsil is positioning himself for a new phase in his career.

Lexsil gained recognition after being signed under Just In Love Music, a label owned by Otile Brown, where he worked on several successful projects. One of his biggest collaborations with Otile Brown was the song Bounce, which went on to achieve millions of views on YouTube and became a major hit among fans. The chemistry between the two artists helped boost Lexsil’s visibility in the industry and introduced him to a wider audience. During this period, he also worked with other prominent East African artists including Jovial, Nadia Mukami, Masauti, Rayvanny, and Reekado Banks. These collaborations played a key role in shaping his early career and building his reputation as a versatile vocalist.

However, Lexsil later exited the label under circumstances that drew attention from fans and media. In an interview, he explained that he was dropped after releasing three songs under the label, but he expressed understanding of the situation. He noted that the decision came during the Covid-19 period, which affected many businesses and creative industries financially. According to him, the label was struggling at the time, making it difficult to sustain operations as before. He added that the separation was handled legally, with a lawyer involved and documents signed to finalize the agreement. Despite the setback, he maintained a respectful tone toward his former team and acknowledged the difficult timing.

Lexsil also shared how emotionally challenging that period was for him, especially because he looked up to Otile Brown as a mentor and inspiration. He described it as one of the hardest moments in his career, as he had placed a lot of hope in the partnership. His connection to the label went beyond business, as he had personal ties through his producer Vicky, who introduced him to Otile Brown. He explained that Vicky played a major role in his early journey and remains one of his closest friends. This network of relationships made the exit even more difficult for him to process at the time.

Despite the challenges, Lexsil has continued to focus on his music career and is now actively releasing new material. His latest song Mariana has been described as a vibey track with no hidden meaning, created purely for entertainment. He encouraged fans not to overanalyze the song, emphasizing that it was meant to bring energy and enjoyment. The release has already sparked interest, with listeners engaging with his new sound and asking for more content. This shows that his fan base remains strong and eager for his next move.

Looking ahead, Lexsil has confirmed that he is preparing a new EP set for release in July, along with several upcoming projects. He revealed that the project will include collaborations that fans may not expect, hinting at major surprises in the pipeline. This announcement has created anticipation within the Kenyan music scene, as listeners wait to see how his sound will evolve. His focus now appears to be on rebuilding momentum and expanding his artistic reach. With consistent releases and strategic collaborations, he aims to solidify his place in the industry.

Lexsil’s journey highlights the realities of the music business, where success, setbacks, and reinvention often go hand in hand. From his breakthrough under Just In Love Music to his current independent direction, he has shown resilience and adaptability. His willingness to speak openly about both his struggles and future plans adds depth to his public image. As he prepares for his upcoming EP and new collaborations, fans continue to watch closely. His story now moves into a new chapter defined by independence, growth, and renewed ambition.
