Guinness World Records aka The Guinness Book of Records is a reference book which publishes world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.
The Guinness World Record which is produced every each year was first published in 1955
The original languages of the book were in Hindi, Korean, Persian and Tagalog.
For a period of 64 years, excellent Kenyans have been part of the brave individuals who have contributed to the breaking of world records.

1. Chef Maliha Mohammed – 2019
Kenyan cook Chef Maliha Mohammed from Mombasa county broke Guinness World Record for the longest time spent cooking.
The record was smashed in August 2019 at Kenya Bay Beach Resort in Mombasa on 18th after cooking for 75 hrs non-stop.
For Maliha to have her name in the history books, she prepared a list of 400 recipes of local and international cuisines for the competition.
Interestingly the food she prepared would be donated to charity homes and orphanages in Mombasa so as to help in raising awareness for the less fortunate in Mombasa town .
During her first trial in 2019 May, Maliha the mother of two cooked 100 recipes for 36 hours non-stop.
In July 2019, Chef Maliha cooked 200 meals for 54 hours before going for the final competition supervised by officials from the Guinness World Record.
Maliha triumphantly crashed down the record of 68hrs 38mins 1sec which was being held by Rickey Lumpkin from Los Angeles,USA for the Guinness World Record held for the longest time spent cooking.
Her name will be permanently written in the Guinness Book of World Records
2.Joseph Love- 1992
He set the record straight about three decades ago by milking the largest volume of milk within a single day.
Joseph from Kilifi county milked a high amount of milk by hand when he milked 531 litres from 30 cows by hand in only 24 hours.
He immediately made it into the Guinness Book of World Records
3.Tegla Lorupe – 2002-2003
The retired and most successful athlete holds three world records.
She has the best time in the 20,000 metres run in the year 2000, fastest 25,000 metres run in 2002 and a record time in the 30,000 metres race in 2003.
4.Paul Tergat – 2003
The athlete made his name get immortalized in the Guinness hall fame when he smashed the fastest marathon at 2hr 04min 55sec in 2003
5. Daniel Komen – 1998
He holds the fastest time in the 3,000 metre race
6. Paul Kosgei
For the fastest 25 km run in 2004,
7.Kenyan 800m relay team
(William Yampoy, Wilfred Bungei, Joseph Mutua and Ismael Kombich) in 2006 for the fastest time
8.Hillary Kimaiyo
the World’s fastest 10 kilometre race in 2007
9.Samuel Wanjiru
The fastest half marathon in 2007.
10. Kimani Ng’ang’a Murage
The 84-year old Kimani Ng’ang’a Murage became the oldest pupil in 2004 when he joined Standard One at Kapkenduiyo Primary School, Eldoret, Kenya.
11. Andy Roberts, Terry Stevenson and John Fanshawe – 1986
The trio set the highest number of birds of one species counted in 24 hours .
The birdwatching men counted 342 birds of the same species
12.Lopiding Hospital in Lokichogio – 1987
Awarded as the world record for the largest present-day war hospital.

The highest number of people washing hands with 19352 participants
