A sponsor is a name fondly used in Kenya to refer to an elderly man sleeping with a girl young enough to be his daughter.
While clandestine is the opposite of a sponsor, here in Kenya it means elderly women sleeping with young boys, likewise , so young to be their sons or son-in-laws
But the two words, Sponsor and Clandestine have a different meaning to the English world.
With so much stories of sponsors hovering around, most of them being prominent, we have also come across clandestines, most who are very prominent and big wigs in Kenya’s society.

According to sworn court affidavits, former Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Prof Olive Mugenda was sleeping around with small men and coming to her matrimonial home late.

Abel, a professor of statistics and research at USIU, died on January 5 after jumping from the sixth floor of the White Rhino Hotel in Nyeri County. He was 66.
The public together with President Uhuru Kenyatta was however told that he succumbed to short illness.
“Since the celebration of the said marriage, the respondent had on numerous occasions treated the petitioner with utmost cruelty, and to compound the said cruelty, the respondent deserted the matrimonial home and has been living in an adulterous life and committing adultery with various men and the marriage has irretrievably broken down,” stated the late Abel.
He also added that the Prof. Olive had generally been cruel, rebellious, unwilling to recognise him as her husband and shunned all efforts to persuade her to live a normal family life, besides refusing to take responsibilities of a wife and threatening him several times.
