Liverpool have missed out on yet another reported target, as Lorient defender Raphael Guerreiro has snubbed them in favour of a move to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
L’Equipe reports that the 22-year-old will soon sign a four-year deal with the German side and will undergo a medical shortly.
The Portuguese was heavily tipped to join Liverpool towards the end of the season, but it appears that he has been convinced by Thomas Tuchel, and will help Dortmund make a run at Bayern Munich next term.
Guerreiro scored three Ligue 1 goals along with two assists for Lorient over the season. He is a great passer and dribbler of the ball and is great defensively as well, able to pick the ball off opponents and make interceptions.
Arsenal were also said to be weighing up a move for the player, who would probably slot in well at either side, given his attacking ability. However, with Dortmund keen to replace their departed players with young, fresh talent, they have been unrelenting in the transfer window
The Bundesliga outfit has already made a superb signing this summer, having captured Ousmane Dembele, one of the brightest prospects coming out of France. Dembele was also a Liverpool target and had reportedly held telephone conversations with Jurgen Klopp.
Dortmund seem to have beaten the Reds to this player as well. Lorient are set to receive 20 percent on any future sale of the player.
