Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has shared a heartbreaking message on social media, revealing that she has recently gone through a breakup with her South African boyfriend Selema Masekela
In a post on Facebook, Nyong’o wrote, “I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”
She went on to say that she was tempted to hide away from the world, but that she had decided to face her pain head-on.
“But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love,” she wrote. “And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass.”
Nyong’o also expressed hope that her story would be helpful to others who are going through heartbreak.
