The founder and CEO of Facebook, accompanied the publication with a photo in which he is seen next to his wife, Priscilla Chan and Maxima, his firstborn.
“Priscilla and I are very happy to welcome our daughter August!” Said the director general of the social network, who had previously shared that it would take two months to be with her family.
Mark also shared the letter he and Pricilla wrote for the baby:
Dear August,
Welcome to the world! Your mom and I are very excited to see who you will become.
When your sister was born, we wrote a letter about the world in which we wanted her, and now you, to grow. A world with better education, fewer diseases, stronger communities and greater equality. We write that with all scientific and technological advances, your generation should live a dramatically better life to ours, and we have a great responsibility in making this happen.
Although news tends to focus on what is wrong, we believe that these positive trends will ultimately win. We are optimistic about your generation and the future.
But instead of writing about growing up, we want to talk about childhood. The world can be a very serious place. That’s why it’s important to have time to go out and play.
You’ll be busy when you grow up, so I hope you take the time to smell all the flowers and put all the leaves you want in your bucket now. I hope you read your favorite Dr. Seuss books to start creating your own stories about Vipp Vipper. I hope you get up so many times to the carousel with Max that you have tamed each horse. I hope you get as many laps around the room and garden as possible. And then I expect you to sleep a lot of naps. I hope you are a big sleeper and even in your dreams you know how much we love you.
Childhood is magic. You’ll only be a girl once so do not waste it worrying too much about the future. You have us for that and we will do our best to make sure the world is better for you and all the children of your generation.
August, we love you very much and we are very excited to accompany you on this adventure. We wish you a life full of joy, love and the same hope that you give us.
