Maurine Muthengi
Passionate about empowering the girl child: Maurine Muthengi is the Founder of the Donate a Pad Initiative (Christine Muthengi’s Foundation) which was created to ensure girls in primary schools are provided sanitary towels so they do not miss school during their menstrual cycles. Through education and mentorship programs, this initiative empowers young girls. Career development and coaching are also provided to students.
With a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University’s School of Agriculture and Technology and certificates in Project Management, Maurine has also worked in refugee programs with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). She is currently a Resettlement Database Assistant. She also trains staff and supervises interpreters.
As a YALI Fellow, Maurine plans to improve and grow the Donate a Pad program. She will hold workshops and training and continue supporting girls in education.
