What Is Mo-Faya About?

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Nairobi and incorporating glimpses of Western Kenya, Mo-Faya follows Zawadie, a young woman seeking a fresh start after uncovering shocking family secrets. Her journey, however, takes a dangerous turn as she discovers her boyfriend Brian’s hidden life of crime and deception. This storyline promises to keep audiences on edge with its mix of drama and telenovela-inspired twists.

The Cast

The series boasts a stellar lineup of Kenyan talent, with lead roles played by Lorna Lemi, Brahim Ouma, Tobit Tom, and Mathew Ngugi. Supporting them are renowned actors such as Alex Mwakideu, Blessing Lung’aho, Basil Mungai, Tessy Njine, and media personality Cate Rira. This diverse cast ensures an authentic portrayal of Kenya’s rich cultural and social tapestry.

Behind the Scenes

Reuben Odanga, the visionary behind the award-winning Selina, brings his creative expertise to this Netflix debut. His previous works, including the 2022 feature film Nafsi, have cemented his reputation for delivering compelling, relatable narratives. Speaking about Mo-Faya, Odanga highlighted its grounded realism, noting that the series explores themes of responsible parenting and its impact on shaping future generations.

The series is produced by Multan Production, with Jacqueline Musyoka and Odanga serving as executive producers.

Kenyan Drama on the Global Stage

Mo-Faya marks another milestone for Kenyan storytelling on international platforms. It builds on Odanga’s collaboration with Showmax, which produced a 13-part thriller in 2022, further demonstrating the global appetite for authentic African narratives.

Mo-Faya isn’t just a drama—it’s a window into the complexities of Kenyan life, blending universal themes with local flavor. For viewers seeking a gripping, emotionally resonant series, Mo-Faya is set to be a must-watch this December.

Prepare to be enthralled when Mo-Faya premieres on Netflix on December 20, 2024.
